Borough Music School

Borough Music School is a unique local charity that provides comprehensive music education for children in the London Borough of Southwark. Founded by Anne Worsley in 1995, the school offers individual and group music lessons at a subsidised cost.

Each child is given a placement in an individual instrumental lesson, plus the opportunity to join group classes – this may include string ensembles, recorder ensembles, wind-brass bands, music theory and choir. We hold internal examinations as well as performance opportunities to assess progress, and the majority of our students achieve distinguished results (Grades 1-8) with the ABRSM and Trinity College exams. Furthermore,  all our teachers are professional musicians and educators from all over the world! The best part have performed in venues as esteemed as The Wigmore Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, The Barbican and The SouthBank Centre.

The School is also notorious for its vibrant, friendly and multi-cultural community. Parents are encouraged to participate in the day-to-day activities, and are welcome to sit on the voluntary committee that oversees the work.
