The Exploration Society - Easter Camp 2020

Welcome to The Exploration Society! We are an outdoor education provider that trains and prepares school children of all ages for Expeditions. This exciting trip is designed to allow the children to experience new and exciting activities such as traversing, archery, bushcraft, a cave maze, Jacobs ladder and peddle carts !

Accommodation and Facilities

Bentley Copse is a private site owned by the Surrey Scout Association and will be our home for the duration of our stay, located in the heart of the Surrey Hills with plenty of lovely walks and stunning views to take in. Bentley Copse is based in twenty-eight acres of natural hurtwood forest in a quiet part of Surrey. During our stay we will be staying in indoor accommodation with central heating incase of chilly nights, we will also have access to an indoor hall for lunch and games if the weather turns on us.

Itinerary and Activities

The itinerary will include adventurous and energetic activities such as climbing, zip-wiring and night games as well as allowing the children to learn new bushcraft skills in an outdoor setting such as firelighting and campfire cooking. Bentley Copse has a huge array of exciting and challenging on-site activities which means we don’t need to waste lots of time travelling. The children will get some free time every day for some unstructured play but there will always be adults around on duty.

All activities will be led by qualified instructors with appropriate levels of training and supervision and we have conducted full risk assessments for every aspect of the camp. Safety is at the centre of all our trips and we will do everything we can to ensure the children have an exciting experience but are well looked after throughout. A certain level of risk is inherent to all of these activities but we believe the enormous benefits far outweigh them. All of the ESOC leaders are first aid trained and DBS checked and a vehicle will always be available in case we need to take anybody for medical attention. Children will have the opportunity to sit out of any activities they are uncomfortable with.

– Cave Maze and Peddle Carts

– Team building challenges

– Rifle shooting and Archery

–  Fire lighting / Campfire Cooking

– Tree trails and Zip line

– Jacob’s ladder

Essential Information
Cost

The cost for this trip is £395 pp. This includes:

Transport to Bentley Copse
Activities and equipment
Accommodation
Staff instructor ratio of approx 1:5
Food from Monday afternoon to Friday lunchtime
All applicable taxes and card fees

£100 will be charged as a deposit when booking. The remaining balance of £295 will be invoiced by March 2020.
