Sir John Soane's Museum

Sir John Soane designed his Museum in Lincoln’s Inn Fields and filled it with an amazing collection of art, sculpture, books, drawings and models. Soane created the Museum as an ‘Academy of Architecture’ and two hundred years later we continue to inspire visitors.

We run a wide range of activities – lots of them free – for families.

Free Exhibition and Museum trails

Our trail for budding young architects is a great way to explore the Museum, revealing hidden connections between objects. We also have a trail for our current exhibition. Download before you arrive, pick up a pencil from the front desk and get going!

Free holiday activities

Come and see us on the first Tuesday of every school holiday, when we run free drop-in art workshops from 11:00 – 15:00. Just drop in, no booking required, and stay for as long as you like.

Every holiday has a different theme linked to our temporary exhibition. Previous activities have included making ceramics, creating pavilions, and designing pop-up landscapes.
