The Music House for Children

Our tutors are chosen because they care about music and children. All are personally interviewed. All CRB’d and many stay with us, we hope, forever. The Music House for Children is a not for profit organisation established in 1994.

Piano
Pupils learn piano technique using a structured, creative approach. Many genres and styles are explored including classical, jazz, pop and blues. Lessons develop notation comprehension, rhythm, technical dexterity and composition. Sight-reading and aural training run alongside a repertoire of pieces each term.

Violin
Formal techniques are introduced with plucking, bowing, posture and cross-bridge playing. Music reading is supported by aural and sight-reading. Solo and group playing nurture listening and performance skills.

Guitar
Pupils learn from a robust template of technique and repertoire. Posture, strumming, plucking and developing compositional skills are enjoyed with a wide range of songs and styles. Guitarists perform together regularly, and enjoying singing too.

Group Percussion 5-8 years.
Fantastic multi-instrumental lesson with drums, glockenspiels, cajon and others. Composition, rhythm, song and music notation are all part of a weekly learning and performance experience.

2-1 Lessons
Any instrument can be taught in pairs at the school. Our skilled tutors provide new challenges for smaller groups, all of whom perform in our annual concert.
