ESOC – Family Sailing Camp 2020

This year the Exploration Society are delighted to welcome families to a Watersports camp set in the Norfolk Broads National Park. From our lakeside campsite, there will be the opportunity to learn how to sail and canoe, visit local nature reserves and enjoy many of the favourite ESOC activities onsite.

Dates: Saturday 23rd May – Monday 25th May – Arrive from 11am Saturday. Depart by 2pm Monday.
Location: Salhouse Broad, Norfolk
Accommodation: Glamping tents provided
Food: All meals organized by us and all ages and diets catered for.
Activities: Sailing, canoeing, bushcraft and target sports over the weekend led by experienced and well qualified Exploration Society instructors.
Cost: £295 per camper (free for those below school age). Includes accommodation, meals and activities
All ages welcome!
Plenty of opportunities for games, exploring the local area and chatting around the campfire.

Activities

Over the weekend we will run an exciting activity programme on and around the water, allowing families to take part as much or as little as they like.

Sailing

Sailing sessions will be in traditional wooden Broads boats where families can sail together with one of our instructors, overseen by a safety boat. Those that want will get to take the helm, set the sails and play games and race with the other boats. Each sailing session will last around an hour and families can expect to take part in at least 2 and probably 3 over the course of the weekend.

Canoeing

Our fleet of canoes will be available for canoeing adventures around the lake and perhaps even out onto the river to explore the local nature reserve. Each canoeing session will last around an hour and families can expect to take part in at least 2 and probably 3 over the course of the weekend.

Target Sports

Back at camp we will set up some ranges where groups can try their hand at axe throwing, archery, combat archery and rifle shooting, competing with other teams to get the highest scores of the camp.

Bushcraft

Instructors will be on hand to teach a variety of bushcraft skills such as foraging, knife work, weaving, natural cordage and fire lighting.

Essential Information
Booking and Fees

The cost for this trip is £295 pp for those in Reception class and above. This includes:

Hire of Canoes, Sailboats, safety boat and Motor Cruiser
Staff instructor ratio of approx 1:5
Camping fees
Camping equipment
Food from Saturday dinner to Monday lunchtime
All applicable taxes and card fees

A 20% (£59pp) deposit will be charged upon booking with the remaining balance due by 1st March 2020.

(Please note the initial deposit will be charged for all members of the family regardless of age and we will subtract the deposit paid for any children younger than reception from your balance payment.)
