The Exploration Society - Youth Flotilla Croatia 2020

Croatia is a world famous sailing destination: warm weather, steady moderate breezes, and many charming harbours add up to one of the best cruising grounds in Europe. We are offering those in Year 9 and above a unique opportunity to discover this coast for themselves, sailing 50ft yachts. Our little fleet will explore the Islands of the Dalmatian coast, before heading to the open sea and finally the historic town of Trogir. Getting used to life on the water, shopping in local markets for provisions (or fishing for them!), and planning our course around the coast will provide unforgettable challenges and experiences for all our crews.

The Boats

The expedition members will be be in crews of 8 and accompanied by two adult Leaders. Each crew will have responsibility for their own yacht on which they will live, eat, sleep, and sail. The yachts are a home from home, with a galley kitchen, lounge, 4/5 heads (aka. bathrooms!) and double cabins for sleeping.

While the boat will likely have a mix of genders and ages the cabins will be either male or female, with a separate cabin for the adults.

We are chartering the Yachts from Activity Yachting, a well established yacht broker with years of experience working with groups going out to Croatia. The link below will show you plans  and details of the boats on their website.

Itinerary

During the cruise itself our itinerary could be affected by wind and sea conditions, but we will move between moorings and anchorages as we head towards Krka National Park. Although we will sail or motor for some time each day, there will be plenty of time for relaxing, swimming and games in remote sheltered bays. Crews will shop in local towns and markets and there will be plenty of time for relaxing, swimming, games and exploration.

Safety

Coastal sailing is a low risk activity when well managed, and we ensure that all our activities meet the highest safety standards. An overview of the measures we take is given below:

The Exploration Society is AALA certified and this Expedition will be   BS8848 (British Standard for Overseas Expeditions) Compliant. Confirmation and declaration of this will be on the final details email.

A non-refundable deposit of £295 will be required on booking to secure a place on the trip. The remaining balance will be due in two installments of £500 in February 2020 and April 2020.
